‘The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art’
Leonardo Da Vinci
Your Body! What an amazing structure! An intricate and specific network of systems, all carefully balanced with each microscopic element contributing to the whole system! The Digestive System, the Endocrine (hormonal) System, the Circulatory System, the Lymphatic System, the Immune System, the Muscular System, the Nervous System, the Reproductive System, the Respiratory System, the Skeletal System and the Urinary System - to name but a few! All of these areas of the body working together to contribute to our whole system - our body- which houses us - ourselves in it's physical make up, and protects us! so........ why do so many of us have illnesses and imbalances in our bodies? There are many, many factors which contribute - be it emotional problems, toxins built up in the system, genetic, environmental, stress and strain on specific systems.... For each of us, the reason for the imbalance will be a combination of elements and reasons. And so..... What about Reflexology?
Our feet! They are anatomically accurate reflections of our whole body! like little versions of our whole self! Thus, we can access all of the systems and each element of the systems mentioned above through points on the feet..... ingenious! The feet present to the reflexologist what needs to be done - they show the reflexologist points of imbalance which need to be stimulated, sedated, or balanced.
The body tells the therapist what is in need of assistance. The body is constantly working to balance itself, and reflexology works by promoting and working with this instinct of the body. By using the simple pressures and techniques to work with the body. Reflexology also works to re-balance the body as a whole, and as such works on all areas in order to influence the area of difficulty.
Reflexology is fast becoming a recognised and valued therapy in the health and wellbeing sectors, both medical and natural. It is not biased towards any which theory or approach, as it has it's own firm rooted approach which works safely alongside all other health approaches.
The Reflexology Experience
Step away from the busy-ness and enter into a quiet, calm room, some neutral uplifting music to accompany, enjoy a rejeuvinating footbath of warm water, epsom salts (a natural occuring pure mineral compund of magnesiumand sulphate needed by the body), pure high grade therapeutic essential oils (young living) chosen specifically for you. Enjoy for a few minutes, thus preparing for full benefit of the reflexology treatment. Then up onto the massage table to relax and enjoy the treatment. The therapist will use a combination of pressure techniques, massage techniques and 'holds' on different parts of the feet, a nurturing and enjoyable experience even for those with the most sensitive of feet! you can relax and talk with the therapist or simply lay back and enjoy. Following the one hour treatment, the therapist will discuss the treatment with you and if appropriate; an ongoing treatment plan tailored just for you.
